Laura Setzer obtained her LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1991 and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1993. Following her call to the bar, Laura moved to London, England where she qualified as a U.K. solicitor. She practiced immigration and refugee law in England for 5 years before returning to Canada.
Laura has been a sole practitioner in Ottawa since 2005 practicing exclusively in the area of immigration and refugee law. Laura appears regularly before the Immigration and Refugee Board and the Federal Court. She represents clients at detention reviews, refugee hearings and appeals, Federal Court applications for judicial review, humanitarian and compassionate applications, sponsorship appeals and independent applications for immigration to Canada.
Laura is able to accept Legal Aid certificates for general and appellate work. She is a member of the Legal Aid Ontario Area Committee, the Refugee Lawyers Association and the Law Society of Upper Canada.
